Hit Option–Delete (Mac) or Ctrl–Backspace (Windows) to delete the word to the left of the cursor. This is an operating system feature so it should work in any text-editor.
This same technique can be also be used in the opposite direction. Hit Option–Fn–Delete(Mac) or Ctrl–Delete (Windows) to delete the word to the right of the text cursor.
This tip is really useful for building HTML emails because HTML emails can become very cluttered with inline CSS.
To fold all HTML attributes in Sublime Text, hit Cmd–K then Cmd–T in quick succession (Mac) or Ctrl–K then Ctrl–T in quick succession (Windows). To unfold, hit Cmd–K and Cmd–0(Mac) or Ctrl–K and Ctrl–0 (Windows).
To quickly duplicate a line of code, place the cursor anywhere in the line and hit Cmd–Shift–D(Mac) or Ctrl–Shift–D (Windows).
Comments tell the web browser to ignore a section of code. We use them to document and debug our code.
To comment out one or more lines of code in Sublime Text, place the cursor anywhere in a line (or select multiple lines) and hit Cmd–/ (Mac) or Ctrl–/ (Windows).
Use the same keystroke on an empty line to insert a blank comment.
Yayoi Sugishita attended Noble's Web Design Certificate in early 2016. Her second project was a website for Sakebar Shigure. The website uses elegant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a 1-page format.
What was your background before learning how to code?
I was a video editor for a Japanese broadcasting company. I didn't have any knowledge of coding at all before learning it.
What led you to pursue classes and a career in code?
At the beginning, I was thinking to run an online business after quitting my previous job. I thought it'd be better if I could make my own websites than hiring someone.
Did you research other schools before deciding on Noble?
Yes, I did. I was googling many Web development schools in NYC like New York Code+Design Academy, Flatiron School, and App Academy etc.
What led you to decide to go to Noble?
Noble's programs were very attractive to me, because they gave an opportunity to retake classes, and also the price of the programs was reasonable compared to other schools.
