What Noble Desktop Offers
All of Noble Desktop’s courses are taught by instructors with industry experience and a proven track record of pedagogical excellence in their field. Noble Desktop is licensed by the New York State Department of Education, which ensures that all schools that offer training services in the state of New York are providing students with quality, practical education. They assess many of the same criteria as accrediting agencies, including financial viability, record keeping, curriculum, and facility safety. To ensure that students are receiving high-quality instruction, all instructors are required to complete between 30 and 90 hours of training in pedagogical best practices.
Noble Desktop also works with the US government as a contract service provider and an approved career training program for veterans, active duty service members, and their families. GI Bill support is available for select classes through Noble’s partnership with the VA. This means that servicemen, veterans, and their families can receive financial support and feel assured that the training they receive to help them return to civilian life has been thoroughly vetted for quality and support.
To help provide students with even more flexible training options, all of the courses offered by Noble Desktop come with a free retake option within one year, giving students the opportunity to attend some portions of (or all of) a course that they have previously attended. This gives students the chance to get even more hands-on training and feedback from their instructors and they can opt to retake only parts of the class if they prefer, giving them even more flexibility in how they structure their training. Owing to the free retake options, multiple different course modalities, recorded seminars, and one-on-one training opportunities, Noble Desktop is proud to offer some of the most flexible training options available.
What Support Does Noble Desktop Provide
In order to assist students in achieving their career goals, Noble Desktop offers a range of different support services and benefits to help students remain flexible and involved in their learning process. Students who are forced to miss classes or who are having trouble with their lessons will have ample opportunity to receive additional training and support to ensure that they leave the class confident in their newfound skills. As previously mentioned, Noble Desktop provides all students with the option to retake their entire course within one year of completing the class. This can be used to refine skills, get more hands-on experience and feedback, or to cover lessons missed during the original session.
The majority of our programs have full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evening or weekend) options and students who enroll in either the in-person or online classes can switch their modalities freely. Course materials are made available on the classroom portal, including recordings of classroom materials. This ensures that even if students miss a day of class, they will still be able to receive their instructions and get an understanding of the material. The lessons are broken down into modules designed to help students scaffold their training and to make the classes more accessible to students who want to learn a specific skill, try a course before committing to the whole program, or complete the program over time.
Noble Desktop also offers one-on-one training and tutoring sessions for students enrolled in select certificate programs who need either individual support addressing a difficult topic or who are looking for more opportunities to get live feedback on their work. This additional training can be customized to suit your specific needs and it can also focus on job preparation and readiness.
All of Noble Desktop’s live courses are recorded and made available to students for 30 days after the conclusion of the lesson. This will allow students to go back and rewatch the session to clarify difficult material, see a live demonstration again, or see content that they missed the first time around.
Students enrolled in select Noble courses will receive access to a proprietary workbook written by Noble’s experienced instructors covering the material and exercises of the course. This provides students with an additional way to approach their studies and these workbooks are being frequently updated alongside the course curriculum.

What Kind of Financing Options are Available?
Students looking to finance their training will have several options in order to make it easier for them to receive high-quality tech and design training. Noble Desktop is able to offer students multiple different options when paying for courses, including a 0% interest monthly payment option for select certificate programs that allows students to spread their tuition payments over a year or more. Select certificate programs can also be paid for in a “pay-as-you-go” installment plan (also 0% interest) designed to make it easier for students to cover the cost of the course, while ensuring it is paid off in full by the last day. There are no additional fees for either option. Besides these payment plans, Noble Desktop offers several tuition support options for veterans under the GI Bill for many certificate programs.
Our History
Noble Desktop was founded in 1990 by Scott Carson as a desktop publishing studio, using QuarkXPress, Illustrator, and Photoshop to produce books, magazines, catalogs, and other print material.
In 1991 Scott began to teach at Parsons School of Design. Word got out that a good class in QuarkXPress was being taught, but demand was far more than Parsons could handle. So Scott started teaching at Noble Desktop in the evenings.
Eventually, students asked for other classes, so Noble Desktop slowly added programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. By 1994 we had a staff of five instructors and spent a lot of money advertising in local papers. When competition heated up and the advertising became unpleasant, Noble Desktop stopped advertising altogether.
But a funny thing happened. The students kept enrolling, mainly through word of mouth. Noble Desktop had built up such a base of previous students that referrals kept classes full. In those days, class size was limited to 5 students. We hovered around one computer monitor and handed out practice worksheets to students. Today we have hi-res projectors (beaming onto ten foot screens) in classrooms that can handle up to 17 students. We provide each student with a complete step-by-step workbook that’s nicely printed and bound.
In August 1999 we typeset our last 1,000-page book and decided to focus exclusively on training. Now we have a staff that works expressly on improving classes and workbooks. We get to practice what we teach by working on our own books and websites. It all makes for a very rewarding mix of doing and teaching. Hope to see you in class soon!
