Founded in 2013 in Atlanta and now headquartered in Charlotte, NC, Tech Talent & Strategy is committed to diversifying the tech industry. The organization is a woman-owned business, piloted by co-founder and CEO Betsy Hauser Idilbi, whose own coding bootcamp experience in Chicago inspired her to bring tech opportunities to the South. Tech Talent & Strategy maintains training centers in twelve locations throughout the American South, as well as Arizona, Connecticut, and Ohio. What Classes Are Available?

Tech Talent South offers a choice of three entry-level courses for applicants, which the organization describes as different learning paths into the tech industry. These courses are Code Immersion, JavaScript Application Development, and Data Science. Code Immersion introduces students to full stack web development through major coding and database languages like Java, JavaScript, and MySQL, while also learning HTML and CSS and using Git and Github. Tech Talent South also runs a dedicated Graduate Accelerator Program (GAP) and a Veterans Tech Accelerator (VTA) program to quickly train liberal arts college graduates and US military veterans to enter the coding workforce.

Class Formats

Introductory classes at Tech Talent South are held live online and in-person at all of their 12 centers. The Coding Immersion course can be taken full-time during the day or part-time two evenings a week over ten weeks. The JavaScript Application and Data Science courses both run part-time only, on two weekday evenings for ten or eight weeks, respectively. Students are expected to achieve a grade of 70% or more on their final exam to be eligible to join Tech Talent South’s pool of hireable talent.

Admissions Process

Applying to Tech Talent South’s courses involves a short online application, followed by a 20-30 minute phone discussion with a talent recruiter. The recruiter will help the prospective student assess which career path to enroll in.

Tech Talent South does not share the cost of their training programs upfront. Graduates who have paid for their coding education through Tech Talent South report costs ranging from $1,000 to $8,000 for a course.
