Creating Presets in Premiere Pro

Free Video Tutorial and Guide

While editing, you might create a color correction that you want to repeat or a motion keyframe you want to repeat.

In this video, we learn how to create Presets, which in turn become part of your Premiere Pro palette of techniques you like and want to use again

Hi, this is Margaret with Noble Desktop. This is a video on presets in Premiere Pro. I really like this effect and might want to use it as a theme in my film. You could make a preset of really anything: color correction, changing the scale in a certain way, etc.

In this case, I have a directional blur. I'm going to go over to my Effects Control and control click on it. I have the option that says 'Save Preset'. This is pointing to the fact that I have a certain length in my adjustment layer. The directional blur has its keyframes set apart a certain way in relation to this adjustment layer. If I say 'Scale', if this adjustment layer is a full minute long, it's going to be a super long effect. Anchor to End Point will make it start at the beginning of the adjustment layer, and Anchor to Out Point will make it end there and stay the same size. I'm going to say 'Scale'.

Now, I'm going to go over to my Effects, and I'll see my directional blur preset under the Presets folder. I'm going to put this on this video clip - it doesn't have to be on an adjustment layer. Let's say for this book, I'm going to make some color correction on this window workspace. This shows me right off the bat that I am underexposed. Let's do our corrections first on our RGB curves. I'm going to lift up the overall lighting on the bottom here, and then go to Blue because that seems to be where a lot of the underexposure is. Then, I'll just do the overall lighting here. I'm going to get that up, as well as Green, just to correct this basic exposure where I've lifted up the shadows and lowered the highlights just a little bit. Let's say that's my preset. I'll go to Effects Control, select 'Save Preset', and call it 'Moderate Exposure Correction'.

Now, if I do a color correction preset, I'm going to look for it under my Presets in my Effects window workspace. I hope you've enjoyed this lesson on presets. This has been Margaret with Noble Desktop.
