Authorization on Facebook

  1. Go into the Library module.

  2. In the Collections panel, click on Europe > England.

  3. Select the first lighthouse photo (20090503_YourName_001B). Alternatively, since you’re posting this on your Facebook wall, feel free to select your favorite photo.

  4. On the left, expand the Publish Services panel.

  5. The rest of the setup involves getting Facebook and Lightroom talking to each other. If your Facebook account is already set up in Lightroom, skip ahead to the Posting a Photo on Your Facebook Wall section. Otherwise, do one of the following:

    • In the Publish Services panel, next to Facebook, click Set Up.

    • If you’re redoing the exercise and you don’t see Set Up, double–click Facebook.

  6. In the window that opens, under Facebook Account click on Authorize on Facebook, then click OK to close the dialog that appears.

  7. Facebook’s login screen opens in a new web browser window. Log in to Facebook with your email and password. (If you’re already logged in, go on to the next step.)

  8. You will be prompted to Connect Adobe Photoshop Lightroom with Facebook. Click Continue, then click Okay.

You should get a message about the device (in this case Lightroom) being connected. Now you can publish photos to Facebook straight from Lightroom!

  9. If you get a message about allowing this website to open a program on your computer, click Allow.

  10. Back in Lightroom, click Done.

  11. In the Lightroom Publishing Manager dialog box, click Save.

Posting a Photo on Your Facebook Wall

  1. Notice that the Facebook panel is now open in the Publish Services panel. You should see your current Facebook photo albums listed here. Find the Timeline Photos album. We’ll be adding the edited photos to this album.

If you don’t see a Timeline Photos album or you would like to create a new album for these photos, complete the sidebar below.

Creating a New Facebook Photo Album

    1. Ctrl–click (Mac) or Right–click (Windows) in the Facebook panel and from the menu that appears, choose Create Collection.

    2. For Name, enter the name you would like for your new album.

    3. Uncheck Include selected photos.

    4. For Album Name, enter the same name you entered at the top.

    5. For Location, enter England.

    6. Enter an Album Description if you would like.

    7. From the Privacy menu, choose the privacy setting you prefer.

    8. Click Create. Your new Facebook album has been created and you can continue with the next step.
  2. In the Collections panel, click on Europe > England.

  3. Click and drag the first lighthouse photo (20090503_YourName_001) into the Timeline Photos album (or the album you just created).

  4. Under Facebook, click on Timeline Photos (or the album you just created).

  5. At the top right of the screen, click Publish.

Lightroom will update your Facebook wall (the progress bar is at the top-left corner of Lightroom).

Facebook Comments

  1. On the right, expand the Comments panel. (It will say No Comments.)

Your photos’ comments and likes would be listed here after refreshing the panel.

  2. Test out the Comments feature by doing the following:
    • In the text box, type Lighthouse in Britain (or if you chose another photo, write an appropriate description).
    • At the top left of the Comments panel, click the Refresh icon refresh.
    • If your comment didn’t appear yet, click the Refresh icon refresh again.
  3. Minimize Lightroom.

  4. In a web browser, go to facebook.com

  5. Check out your newest wall post. Sweet!
