in this video we're going to start changing the colors of some of the shapes that we've added. We've already done this with our white box in the middle, however let's make adjustments to this top triangle as well as the bar going across. Let's start with the bar going across.
This is within our bottom title group. And we'll select the bottom rectangle. With the bottom rectangle selected, let's adjust the color.
Using our shape tool, we can select the shape and look at the fill. And we can choose from various colors. However, for this banner, let's actually choose the color that makes up the logo, this greenish color.
To do this, we can do it a couple different ways. First, we can use our color picker. And we can simply hover over the green.
We'll click. And we'll see that the hex code found in the bottom of the color picker is consistent with that of the shape of the P logo for phase 10 construction. We'll click on that color and click OK.
We'll now see that our bar has been changed to that color. We'll click outside of bottom rectangle to see how this looks. I think this is a good color for this bar and consistent with our logo.
So let's now change this triangle on the top. To do that, we'll select the rectangle up top. We haven't yet named it, so we'll double click and give it the new name, top rectangle.
In addition, with this rectangle, let's make sure that it's flush with the top right corner. To do that, we'll scroll to the top and zoom in. And we can see that it's not quite touching here.
There are a couple ways to fix this. First, we could use the move tool. And simply click and drag it down.
Additionally, I can move it down with the down arrow on my keyboard and I'll inch it down until it's flush. Let's zoom out. And we can see that this looks nice here.
Now let's change the color. Looking at the entire banner zoomed out, we can see this gray isn't quite consistent. So let's change it to black.
To do this, with top rectangle selected, we'll go back to our rectangle tool. And with this selected, we'll go to fill. And we'll simply change it to black.
Unfortunately, it's just a little bit off of the color of our logo. So let's instead change this from black to this slightly muted color. We'll go to fill.
Use our color picker. And again, simply hover over the color we want and click. And we'll see our hex code reveals that it's 383838.
And we'll click OK. We can now see that it's matched the same color. However, our words phase 10 construction don't really stand out as much.
So let's adjust those. To do this, we can use the move tool to select these words. Or we can go into logo group and select the words phase 10 construction.
Next, all we're going to do is change them to a lighter color so they pop out from the background. And we can do this in properties. Select color.
And we're simply going to drag the color picker up to the top left so it's white. And click OK. Now phase 10 construction really stands out from the dark background.
However, let's make a couple more adjustments to this logo. Currently, it feels like this logo is really large on the left-hand side with small text to the right. So let's get it in proportion.
Let's zoom in. And let's simply shrink the size of this large logo. To do that, we'll select the elements of the logo.
And we're going to transform this from four different layers into one smart object. To do so, we'll select all four layers. Right click.
And we'll click convert to smart object. When we do this, we'll see it's all in one layer. And if we transform it using CTRL T, the proportions will maintain.
Simply going to shrink it. And we'll leave it right there. Next, we'll line it up in the corner.
And maybe make it a little bit larger. And hit ENTER. Next, let's rename ellipse 2, our smart object logo, to logo P. And hit ENTER.
We'll then move the text over by selecting the text layer. And with the move tool, we'll drag it over until we see the pink line and see that it's in line. Let's change the size of this to a little bit bigger by using CTRL T. And if we drag down, we'll see it increases the size.
And then we can move it so it's still in line. And I'm going to inch it over with the keyboard arrows. And hit ENTER to solidify this change.
Looking out, we'll zoom out. And using the zoom tool on the left hand side in the tools bar, we'll click fit screen. And next, to see it without some of these guides, I'll just select outside of phase 10 construction in the artboard in the layers panel.
And we'll see that we have a pretty good looking banner that has consistent branding with our logo. Let's now save our work using CTRL S on the keyboard. And in the next video, we'll begin stylizing some of the text for our image.
See you there!
