How to Use Copilot Mobile Apps

Use the Microsoft 365 app to access CoPilot, not the standalone CoPilot app intended for consumers.

Discover the essential differences between Microsoft's CoPilot apps and learn which one suits your business needs. Understand important guidelines on copyright and AI-generated content.

Key Insights

  • Differentiate clearly between Microsoft's CoPilot apps: the consumer-targeted "CoPilot" app is free and not suitable for business use. Businesses should instead utilize the "Microsoft 365" app, which integrates CoPilot functionality specifically for corporate users.
  • Recognize that new Microsoft features like CoPilot agents may not immediately roll out universally; availability can vary even within the same organization.
  • Understand copyright restrictions clearly: artwork or content generated by AI tools cannot be copyrighted under current US and international laws because it is not considered originally created by humans.

There are also, if you want to get on your mobile device, leave it to Microsoft, there are two apps. There's CoPilot, and CoPilot is not the app that you want as a business person. CoPilot is meant for consumers.

It is the free app, the one that looks like this round, friendly one. It is not for businesses. In fact, if you try to sign in, it'll say, Nope, you don't want to use this app.

You want to go get the Microsoft 365 app. So Microsoft 365 is the general app for everything relating to your Microsoft 365, and it has a CoPilot tab. So the idea of here is you can look at your OneDrive, you can create different files, you can see the work in the web tab with CoPilot in the Microsoft 365.

So the CoPilot app itself is for free consumers, basically. And when you're paying, you want to use the Microsoft 365 app and access CoPilot through that. And if you forget that, you'll download the CoPilot app, you'll log in, and it'll tell you to go get the Microsoft 365 app because it doesn't work here.

And you're like, oh, that was disappointing. And so you got to go to the Microsoft 365 app. There's a little bit of reference here, but actually I'm going to have to go back and update this.

This is the general stuff about the agents. And there are some videos here about how to create this stuff, but I'll have to update some instructions of how to do it because I have this stuff about that they're changing. Last time, just recently, I did not have access to those.

So I'll be updating this with some more information about how to create this. Okay. So just ignore this side because this is just changed.

And you might not actually get CoPilot agents just yet. Maybe it's still rolling out. So I got it, but maybe not everybody has it yet.

So any of these new features that they're rolling out as part of Wave 2, you might not be ahead of the wave. You might be behind the wave. You might be ahead of the wave.

So you might not get it right away, but maybe soon you'll be getting it. So any kind of coming soon features, just always know that even within an organization, they might not roll it out to everybody in the organization. Also, just keep in mind that anything you generate as far as things like AI imagery, for example, technically, you cannot legally copyright those materials because as a human, you need to author the material for it to be copyrighted.

If AI generates it, the United States and most countries do not recognize AI-generated art as something you can copyright because it was not created by a person. If you create it, you can copyright it. And you're like, but I wrote the prompt.

Yes, but you didn't create the art. So this is an AI painting. And so it can't be copyrighted, but AI generated that painting.

Thank you. And I hope this has been helpful for all of you.
