What Classes Are Available?

Whether a bootcamp or an individual class, all of NYC Data Science Academy’s courses can be taken in-person or remotely via live online Zoom courses. There is also a dedicated Interactive Distance Learning model available for their bootcamps, which is slightly different than simply attending an existing class remotely. Bootcamps taught through distance learning have longer durations; for example, the full-time Data Science with Machine Learning bootcamp is a 16-week program while the in-person (or remote) option is 12 weeks long. These courses have the same curriculum, but the Interactive Distance Learning model requires fewer weekly hours, making it about a month longer. For a lower commitment, there is also a part-time option that only requires 20-30 hours per week over six months of courses.

Admissions Process

To sign up for individual courses at NYC Data Science Academy, there is an “Enroll Now” link students can click to register and save their spot. The admissions process for the bootcamps is a bit more complex and involves three distinct steps. First, prospective students will submit an online application to give a sense of their work and educational background. The online application also includes a quick self-assessment to show familiarity with the field of data science.

After the initial application has been reviewed, applicants will be contacted by the Admissions team to set up an interview. The video interview allows both the applicant and the Admissions team member to understand whether or not the bootcamp program is a fit for the applicant’s goals and prior experience level.

The final step of the application is a technical assessment. Through a series of technical challenges, applicants demonstrate their thought processes and programming experience. The Admissions team then evaluates their performance in order to decide whether or not the applicant will be accepted into the bootcamp.

The cost for NYC Data Science Academy’s standalone courses generally falls between $1,500 to $2,900. The data analytics bootcamp is nearly $10,000, while the flagship data science program is $17,600. For the data science bootcamp, the cost of individual courses can be applied toward that tuition if admitted within 9 months.

While the Academy does not offer any scholarships at this time, there are a couple of options for financial assistance if needed. Students can use Ascent or Climb Credit to take out a personal loan to cover tuition.
