LANTEC Corporate Training is a GSA contract holder and corporate training organization specializing in meeting the upskilling needs of employers. Through their broad course offerings, they create opportunities for employees to learn crucial skills in many technical areas, including CompTIA, Microsoft Azure, Cisco, VMWare, ISACA, and much more. LANTEC of Louisiana Corporate Training Center provides technical training to corporate and government clients throughout the state of Louisiana, as well as nationwide. Established in Baton Rouge in 1999 by CEO/President Rickie Comeaux, the center soon expanded to include satellite locations in Lafayette and New Orleans.

LANTEC’s skilled instructors include Microsoft Certified Trainers, MS Office Specialists, and Adobe Certified Experts. By specializing in high-tech solutions for businesses and government agencies large and small, LANTEC continues to fulfill its corporate mission to provide a supportive environment for professional development and technical training.

School Locations

The original Baton Rouge LANTEC location has offered instructor-led training since its inception in 1999. Today LANTEC has more than 90 workstations at its Baton Rouge location. The training center in Lafayette hosts another 60+ workstations and is set up for maximum comfort and manageable class sizes.

LANTEC continues to grow its newest training center, which opened in New Orleans in 2019. An additional partnership with SOWELA Technical Community College has led to public classes hosted in Lake Charles.

Along with its history of offering in-person coursework, LANTEC began offering instructor-led classes virtually in March 2020.

Training at LANTEC encompasses a broad range of subjects, with hundreds of course alternatives. These are categorized into four areas:

What Classes Are Available?

LANTEC’s skills-based and professional development courses include numerous short seminars, as well as several five-day bootcamp style programs. Companies and government agencies looking to provide their employees with new or expanded skills can find coursework here in a wide range of subject areas.

The Applications subset of courses includes Adobe Creative Cloud programs like Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; PC and Windows courses; Crystal Reports and Tableau; the Microsoft suite of software, including Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, SharePoint and Word; Quickbooks; and intensive two-day Web Design classes covering coding with HTML/CSS.

Numerous classes in subjects like Cisco systems, Citrix, ISACA, and Linux are available. Finally, the Microsoft Official subset of classes is made up of instructor-led subjects taught by expert Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs). Class Formats

LANTEC’s convenient class formats include in-person, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and custom employer programs. Select classes are offered on a self-paced basis.

Class sizes vary but are generally kept small, from 10 to 20 students. LANTEC began to offer virtual instructor-led courses in March 2020, and these include break-out chat rooms, live polls, and other features typically associated with its traditional in-person formats.

Course lengths at LANTEC also vary, from half-day seminars to five-day bootcamps and customized training. The custom training option offers greater flexibility for clients: classes can be expanded or abbreviated to fit scheduling needs and budgets. LANTEC also provides the alternative to host courses using mobile classroom labs.

Self-paced elearning is another format available to clients, either because they cannot attend a scheduled class or simply desire reinforcement of course materials.

Admissions Process

As a training center, the LANTEC admissions process is straightforward. Simply choose your course, and you’ll be taken to a page that shows whether or not your selection is offered via virtual instructor-led training (vILT). Click on the Enroll button.

If you need to schedule your selection at another time, LANTEC provides many courses on demand. To request a specific course delivery date, click the link that reads “please submit your specific request for immediate consideration.”

Pricing & Payment Options

The cost for a LANTEC course can range from $250 for a one-day workshop to $2,695 for a five-day certification prep program.

Each client is assigned an Account Executive for personalized service. Companies or agencies may be invoiced or pay for training via credit card or company check. LANTEC also offers the option to pay an existing invoice through self-check-out on its website.

Career Support Services

Because LANTEC is primarily a training center, its main goal is to help professionals learn new skills or expand their existing skills within their current positions. Thus, it is not set up for career support services.

The primary support service LANTEC offers both corporate and government clients is its custom training capability. Course topics may be extended, abbreviated, or even combined with topics from other coursework in whatever manner best serves the clients’ needs.

Alumni Outcomes

Currently, there are no independent alumni outcome studies for LANTEC, as the training center model does not lend itself to such studies. Most professionals who attend courses at LANTEC are already employed, and taking classes either through their employer or as part of a group such as a governmental agency.

Although there are few available independent reviews of LANTEC online, those available on review websites are generally positive. One reviewer said she was “super satisfied” with the training center. And even though she found the course content “boring,” she faulted her manager’s choice of the topic rather than the LANTEC instructor.

Other online reviewers cite the “amazing” staff, with one writing “I got a lot out of my course,” and adding, “I would definitely recommend LANTEC.” While it would be helpful to have more detailed reviews available, most seem to be complimentary about the center.
