School Locations

Codeup offers all coursework on a virtual basis but plans to return to in-person learning on a full-time level in 2022.

The original location offers all available Codeup programs at its coworking space in the historic Vogue building in downtown San Antonio.

The Dallas campus is located in the Katy Building, a coworking space with onsite staff, kitchenettes and dining areas, and conference rooms. Codeup’s Full Stack Web Development program is available at this location.

Codeup Houston will launch in 2022 at the 720 Rusk coworking business center in the historic theatre district. Students interested in applying to this location should check the Codeup website for updates on course offerings.

What Classes Are Available?

Codeup was launched with a single nine-week bootcamp and has since expanded to four programs in two locations, with a third location soon to open.

The six-month Data Science Program prepares students for careers in positions such as Data Analysts, Data Engineers, or Data Scientists. Others go on to become Machine Learning Engineers, Data Architects, or Business Analysts. This intensive course covers everything from data science fundamentals to working with a team on a capstone project. Subjects include Python, Git, Tableau, and SQL, to name a few.

Those seeking a career in web development should check out Codeup’s Full Stack Web Development Program, which also lasts around six months. The immersive experience prepares students for careers as Full Stack Web Developers, Front End Developers, or Back End Developers. Topics covered include JavaScript/jQuery, HTML/CSS, Git, MySQL, among others. The program also concludes with a team-led capstone project.

Codeup’s two shorter programs focus on cybersecurity and system administration. Both are 13 weeks in length and cover a wide range of subject matter. The Cyber Cloud Program offers a preparatory course for cybersecurity students looking to take the certification exam for CompTIA Security+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, and AWS Solutions Architect Associate.

The System Administration program also allows students to earn certifications, in this case, the CompTIA Network+ certificate and CompTIA Linux+. Students learn everything from network fundamentals to Linux administration, web servers, and databases. Both the Cyber Cloud Program and System Administration Program are offered through Codeup Cloud Academy.

Class Formats

Class formats at Codeup have transitioned to all-virtual during the past year, and students have only returned to in-person coursework on a limited basis. Current plans are for new students to begin remotely if enrolled before December 31st, 2021; all students will be expected to fully return to campus by January 3rd, 2022.

The student/instructor ratio at Codeup is kept small to provide individual attention wherever possible, with most class sizes not exceeding 20 students. All programs are offered full-time only, the Web Development and Data Science programs for 22 weeks and the cybersecurity and system administration programs for 13 weeks. Classes run Monday through Friday from 9 am - 5 pm.

Students are required to use their own Apple laptop for each course, as Mac systems are Linux-compatible. Current remote options are offered via Zoom or Slack until January 2022.

Admissions Process

Codeup has a rolling admissions process, and applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. To apply, visit the application page and fill out the contact form.

After applicants submit their contact form, they will be contacted via email with additional steps, including an assessment. Pricing & Payment Options

Codeup programs range from $13,500,000 for the system administration program to $27,500 for the Web Development and Data Science programs. Codeup offers multiple financing options and incentives, as well as a satisfaction-guaranteed policy: if a graduate does not get hired within six months, Codeup will refund their tuition, and if they are let go within two weeks of hiring, Codeup will refund their salary.

Financing alternatives include grant and loan partnerships and flexible payment plans. Codeup requires only a $1K deposit to reserve class space, and students are expected to provide their own Mac equipment. Additional options include grants, scholarships, and VA benefits. Codeup is understandably proud of its comprehensive career support. The first page of Google results for Codeup notes, “They provide excellent career placement services,” including mock interviews, resume building, coaching, and job fairs.

The Codeup website prominently features a Hire Our Alumni page, with clickable thumbnails of recent graduates, showing their area of specialization, availability, and even whether they are willing to relocate. Multiple recent graduates have already been hired within a month of graduation.
