Founded by Josef Neumaier in 1989 as a school for the development of Apple systems administrators and technicians, Brainworks Training has since grown into, not only an Authorized Training Center for Apple Pro Applications but also an Adobe Authorized Training Center, a Merlin Project Authorized Training Center, and a Filemaker Authorized Training Center. The school remains under Neumaier’s direction, and, over the years, has taught over 7500 students and worked with 800 companies, including such major players as Adidas, Canon, Minolta, and Siemens.

The school is primarily a business-to-business venture designed to train existing team members as quickly and efficiently as possible, thus the short length of classes (one, two, and sometimes three days), and the school’s watchword of Quick, Efficient and Successful. As it has grown, the school has expanded its activities into Austria and Switzerland as well as throughout Germany.

Brainworks Training’s primary location is in the Fritz-Schäffer Straße, Munich, south-east of the city center in Neuperlach (U-Bahn: Neuperlach Zentrum.)

The school also has locations throughout Germany (Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Stuttgart, and Düsseldorf) as well as in Austria (Vienna) and Switzerland (Zürich and Basel).

Brainworks Training began as an Apple training center and remains committed to teaching the Apple Way, with classes that take students from their first steps using a Mac through to advanced classes for Apple technicians. What Classes Are Available?

The wide gamut of Apple classes taught at Brainworks Training covers everything from the most basic of introductions to classes designed for advanced technicians seeking professional certification. As for PremierePro, four days at Brainworks Training will have students working with such expert functions as time-lapse, color correction, and sound mixing.

A further Adobe program in which Brainworks Training teaches classes is Acrobat. Here, the syllabus covers two days of schooling and covers just about everything you can do with a PDF document. The class even teaches students how to submit a finished PDF document for review and how to use Acrobat’s comment tools.

Brainworks’ project management curriculum includes classes in both Agile and Scrum, as well as one in the Kanban method for managing and improving both work and workflow. By far the strongest emphasis in the project management department is placed on the school’s one-day Merlin Project training, which demonstrates the “magic” of the software in a class that includes a variety of practical examples and exercises.

Class Formats

Classes at Brainworks Training come in three types: in-person training (in Munich or in one of the school’s satellite locations), online training that can be followed anywhere, and private firm training, which can be arranged upon request, either at one of the school’s locations or at the client’s own premises.

Classes are generally designed for from three to nine students (live) and from five to ten participants (online.)

Admissions Process

There is no formal application process for the classes and seminars at Brainworks Training. Students should, however, be aware that the more advanced classes assume a certain amount of existing knowledge. Prerequisites are outlined clearly on the school’s website.

Pricing & Payment Options

Prices at Brainworks Training vary (sometimes substantially) from subject to subject. The Mac OS introduction class is priced at €490 (approximately $515). The two-day classes in Pages, Numbers, Keynote as well as Word, and Excel cost €630 (approximately $662), while the one-day PowerPoint seminar is proportionally priced at €315 (thus $331.)

The FileMaker two-day introduction is priced higher, at €750 (approximately $788); the three-day advanced class is priced at €1120 (roughly $1177.)

For the Adobe seminars, the beginner level courses are priced at €670 (roughly $704) and the advanced at €760 (approximately $800), the exception being the Acrobat class, which is priced at €365 (or $383.).

The project management classes in Agile and Scrum are priced at €650 (approximately $683), while the Merlin one-day workshop costs €580 (roughly $610) to attend.
